Spiritual, Moral, Social & Cultural

At Mill Hill Primary Academy we recognise that the personal development of pupils, spiritually, morally, socially and culturally, plays a significant part in their ability to learn and achieve. We therefore aim to provide an education that provides pupils with opportunities to explore and develop their own values and beliefs, spiritual awareness, high standards of personal behaviour, a positive, caring attitude towards other people, an understanding of their social and cultural traditions and an appreciation of the diversity and richness of the cultures.

Religious education of pupils at Mill Hill Primary Academy places an emphasis on Christianity, though other religions and beliefs are studied and our pupils are encouraged to explore and reflect on their own values.

Collective worship also takes place during assembly, and daily class ‘Thought for the day’ programme. However, if any parents wish to withdraw their child from an R.E lesson or act of worship they are welcome to contact us and alternative arrangements can be made.

At Mill Hill Primary Academy our Personal Social and Health Education (PSHE) programme aims to incorporate many essential aspects of pupil development to give them the knowledge, understanding and skills they need to manage their lives, now and in the future.

The core themes of PSHE include health and wellbeing, relationships and living in the wider world. All subject areas covered have due regard to the maturity of the individual child.
