City Learning Trust

You will know through newsletters and parent information evenings that Mill Hill and Haywood Academy have been working closely together, and an application for Mill Hill to be sponsored by Haywood Academy was agreed by the Secretary of State for Education from January 1st 2015.

As a result of this, the main change you will see is the slight change of school name to ‘Mill Hill Primary Academy’.

Mill Hill and Haywood will continue to work closely together in this sponsorship arrangement and we look forward to the day that Mill Hill becomes an outstanding Academy.

Academies are publicly funded independent schools that are not managed by local authority control. They are run by an academy trust, which is a charitable company limited by guarantee. This academy trust for your school will be called the City Learning Trust, and will be run and controlled by local governors from each of the member Academies.

We believe that by working together we can improve all our schools’ outcomes and the initial schools within the City Learning Trust will be Smallthorne Primary School, Mill Hill Primary School, Holden Lane Primary School and Haywood Academy. These will be followed by Haywood Sixth Form Academy in September 2015.
